Introducing Easy File Uploader

Last Update 22 days ago

Easy File Uploader lets Shopify merchants add file upload or custom text fields directly to product pages — no code required. Customers can attach files (images, design files, documents, archives, or audio — 14 supported types, admin-selectable per field) or leave a personalization note, before adding an item to their cart. Every submission is automatically linked to the resulting order inside Shopify, so nothing has to be matched up manually or dug out of email later.

The app is a native app block built for Online Store 2.0 themes, added through the Theme Editor like any other section.

Key Concepts in Easy File Uploader

Field types

  • File Upload field — lets customers attach files on the product page. You control exactly which file types are allowed (see Allowed File Types below).

  • Text field — a custom textbox for notes, instructions, or personalization, with optional helper text.

You can add more than one field to the same product — for example, a file upload plus a text note.

Allowed file types
Easy File Uploader supports 14 file types across five categories, and you choose which ones are allowed (per field, in field settings — see Field Configuration & Management). None are selected by default; you turn on the ones you want to accept.

  • Images (6 types): SVG, PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, WEBP, HEIC

  • Design files (2 types): PSD, AI

  • Documents (2 types): PDF, DOC/DOCX

  • Archives (2 types): ZIP, RAR

  • Audio (2 types): MP3, WAV

  • Where a field appears (Product & Variant Targeting)
Each field has two settings that control where it shows up on your storefront:

    • Product Configuration — show the field on all products, or only on specific products you pick.

    • Variant Configuration — show the field on all variants, or only on variants that match conditions you set.

These are set individually for each field, so different fields can target different products or variants.

    Required vs. optional
Each field can independently be marked required or optional. Required fields must be filled before checkout can proceed.

    Live preview
While configuring a field, you see a live preview of exactly how it will render on the storefront before you publish it.

    File retention
Uploaded files are retained for a period based on your plan (see Pricing Plans & Billing). Retention is the time files remain stored and accessible; it is not a per-field setting.

    App block placement
The field renders as a Theme Editor app block — not a Liquid/theme code edit. You drag it onto the product template like any other section block.
